Oracle OpenWorld: Last year it was fuchsia, this year it’s puce

by Vinnie Mirchandani on October 6, 2009

Larry Ellison invoked Chanel recently as he mocked Cloud Computing.

But talk about the difference a year makes. His own shindig Oracle OpenWorld will have plenty of cloud computing. Marc Benioff of salesforce is presenting. NetSuite is throwing a party. amazon and other cloud vendors are in the exhibit hall. Ann Livermore of HP is going to present on technology mega-trends – and cloud computing will be mentioned.

And Larry himself is supposed to demo Fusion applications. Seriously, they will be dead on arrival if they have not leveraged all the innovations coming out of cloud world over the last few years

* data center design
* thermodynamics
* virtualization
* SLA transparency
* automation of application upgrades and change management
* multi-tenant architectures and related efficiencies in application management
* how technology gets licensed and provisioned – units, duration etc.
* web analytics
* systems integration services as software
* and much more

Ray, Frank and I will be there in San Francisco nest week. See you there. I am packing an Azure shirt :)
